Mission
The purpose of this film is to shed light on this crisis going on in our country. To lessen the threat of violence to our public servants. To increase the empathy in our hearts and minds.
The Pulpit illuminates how our institutions both serve and betray us. And in doing so, promotes a vital need for empathy in ourselves and advocacy for one another.
Our goal is raise 2 million dollars for the project and for over 1 million people to see our feature film.
We’ve already started realizing this mission: The Pulpit has received acclaim at several notable screenplay festivals and we expect to garner more acclaim. Festivals can lead to awards, and those accolades lead to more viewers—more dialogue and greater impact.
Project Details
We are a group of multidisciplinary activists, faith leaders, artists and filmmakers all from Kansas. And this summer we are shooting a feature-length Suspense Drama.
The Pulpit is the story of Sarah Williams, a progressive, rural pastor and activist in a politically-divided community. But when Sarah receives death threats for the message of inclusion she preaches, she must enlist FBI Agent Thomas to unmask the terrorists as she tries to reclaim her pulpit.
Sadly, the story is based on a real person.
The Pulpit is about small town politics and the challenges faced by a progressive faith leader. The film also highlights the hypocrisy of some of our most treasured and storied institutions: law enforcement and the Church.
But most of all, it celebrates the selfless advocates who work within these same institutions.
They are heroes.
Synopsis
The Pulpit is a feature-length suspense drama about the biggest ideological threat to modern society.
Our protagonist, Sarah Williams, is an outspoken activist who finds her purpose at the pulpit despite a politically divided church.
After a rousing sermon about inclusion, Sarah receives a mysterious death threat in the mail which targets both her life and her congregation. She pleads for the FBI’s help as she struggles with the trauma and guilt.
Enter FBI Agent Ethan Thomas, a distrusting religious-skeptic, who begins as Pastor Sarah's opponent–and ultimately becomes her fierce advocate.
When Sarah and Thomas finally unite to uncover their common enemy, they discover the threat is larger than either imagined…
